| NCESS is situated in a tranquil and serene location amidst greenery and the placid Akkulam back waters in the city of Thiruvananthapuram, also known as Trivandrum, the capital of the state of Kerala. Thiruvananthapuram is the political nerve centre and a Research and Development hub. It is an abode to a cluster of research centres, the most prominent ones being the Vikram Sarabhai Space Centre (VSSC), Technopark, the Indian Institute of Space Science and Technology (IIST), the Indian Institute of Science, Education and Research (IISER), Rajiv Gandhi Centre for Biotechnology (RGCB), Sree Chitra Thirunal Institute of Medical Sciences and Technology (SCTIMST) and our own National Centre for Earth Science Studies (NCESS). |
